To the editor:

A correction needs to be made in the Oct. 10, 2002, University Times article by Peter Hart entitled: “Some long-term staff lose jobs in units’ attempts to absorb cuts.”

I did not indicate that the staff members in question “took the severance option.” The School of Social Work had offered the severance option but I had no information regarding the staff members’ decision to accept or reject the severance option.

In addition, I should point out that the School of Social Work was guided in the matter of the two positions in question by the conclusions of a Human Resources assessment report.
