Alzheimer seed grants available

The Alzheimer Disease Research Center (ADRC) seed monies grant program is seeking proposals for pilot grants to stimulate new research relevant to Alzheimer’s disease.

Proposals can range from basic to psychosocial science in methodology, with priority given to novel approaches. Proposed research may involve humans, other animals or in-vitro studies. The patient registry, clinical and neuro-pathological databases of ADRC are available resources for approved proposals, as is the database of the National Alzheimer Coordinating Center.

A brief description of the proposed pilot study should be emailed by Oct. 4 to Leslie Dunn, ADRC administrator, at dunnlo@upmc.edu.

The funding period for the grants is April 1, 2011-March 31, 2012, with $25,000 in direct costs available per project. The application deadline is Nov. 8.

Full-time Pitt faculty and post-doctoral fellows are eligible; previous recipients of ADRC seed monies are not.
