LETTERS

To the editor:

Many thanks for your fine cover page article describing Mayor Murphy’s appearance before the Faculty Assembly (University Times, June 12, 2003). The mayor is to be congratulated on his courage in explaining his proposals to a rather “intense” assemblage. This was indeed a fine example of representative government at work.

To the many other unpopular tax-proposals, I would like to add my own suggestion. Realizing that we all want services and we are loath to pay for them, I believe that the city should levy a $10 per month wage tax on everyone who works in the city. This would be the easiest tax to levy and the least complicated to assess.
