Social Work training center opens
The School of Social Work has opened a Pennsylvania Child Welfare Training Center in Mechanicsburg for child welfare professionals and foster parents. The center will accommodate 80 faculty and staff as well as wireless training and conference facilities for up to 500. Social work administers the Pennsylvania child welfare training program through its eight regional training centers; Mechanicsburg is the largest.
Edward Sites, social work professor and principal investigator for the project, noted: “This is the largest state child welfare training program and has been called the most comprehensive, integrated and sophisticated program of its kind in the nation by the U. S. Department of Health and Human Services.”
