The telecommunications program in Pitt's School of Information Sciences (SIS) recently received a $100,000 gift from the AT&T Foundation.

Chancellor Mark Nordenberg said, "The success of our telecommunications program would not be possible without the support of industry partners like AT&T."

"Pittsburgh is a vital market for AT&T Wireless Services, and we are committed to nurturing the talent we need to sustain this fast-growing business," said James Ginty, president, AT&T Pennsylvania. "The University's program in wireless information systems is one of the most innovative in the nation."

Since 1985, AT&T's combined cash and in-kind equipment support amounts to nearly $1.5 million. The latest gift will support the development of a wireless information systems track (WIS-track) in the master of science in telecommunication degree and the Ph.D. concentration in telecommunications. Prashant Krishnamurthy, who joined the telecommunications faculty last fall to develop the WIS-track, will administer the grant for the program.
