ULS gets Cultural Trust archives

Pitt's University Library System has acquired the archival records of the Pittsburgh Cultural Trust. The collection was donated by the Cultural Trust and covers the period 1984 (the first year of the trust's operations) through 1999.

The records include many of the organization's office files, development plans and proposals, architectural drawings and business records spanning the trust's first 16 years, as well as records and promotional materials from the Benedum Center, the Harris Theater, the Wood Street Galleries and the Byham Theater.

The donated collection, containing more than 55 linear feet of records, will be retained as a separate collection known as the Pittsburgh Cultural Trust Archives, and will be housed in the Ford and Harriet Curtis Theatre Collection, part of the Special Collections Department of Hillman Library.

The Cultural Trust Archives will be organized, inventoried and made accessible to researchers through the Curtis Theatre Collection. The Curtis Theatre Collection is the largest repository of Pittsburgh theatrical records, with material dating to the 1870s.
