UPB to host Rockwell exhibit

The Bradford campus will host an exhibition of 11 original pieces of artwork by Norman Rockwell (1894-1978), whose work spanned six decades, graced more than 300 covers of The Saturday Evening Post and reflected small-town American life.

The Rockwell exhibit is being loaned to Pitt-Bradford by two UPB alumni, Jack and Martha (Mackowski) Campbell, who live in Spring, Texas. The Campbells have been acquiring the pieces since the early 1990s, and this is the only time that they will lend their Rockwell collection.

The exhibit will be on display Sept. 16-Nov. 7 in the Blaisdell Hall lobby. An opening reception will feature a lecture by art historian Josienne N. Piller, director of the University Art Gallery and a faculty member in the Department of History of Art and Architecture at the Pittsburgh campus.

In addition to The Saturday Evening Post, Rockwell painted covers for Literary Digest and Look magazine.

The reception is free but guests are asked to RSVP to 814/362-0990 or colosimo@exchange.upb.pitt.edu.
