Faculty Assembly nominees still being accepted

The Senate office is continuing to accept nominations for Faculty Assembly vacancies.

Tossing their hats into the ring as of the University Times’ press time Wednesday are the following faculty members:

Humanities (2 vacancies): David Brumble, English; Marianne Novy, English; Francesca Savoia, French & Italian.

Natural sciences (2): J. Patrick Card, neuroscience; Michael Ramsey, geology; Vladimir Savinov, physics & astronomy.

Social sciences (2): Michael Goodhart, political science.

Education (1): Christina Groark.

Engineering (2): Ataai Mohammad; Lance Davidson; Jeen-Shang Lin.

Public and international affairs (1): No candidates.

Social work (1): Rachel Fusco; Helen Petracchi.

University Library System (1): Marian Hampton; Robin Kear.

Dental medicine (1): Karen Cuenco; Seth Weinberg.

Public health (1): Jeanine Buchanich.

Health & rehabilitation sciences (1): Debora Miller; Emily Murphy.

Health Sciences Library System (1): Malgorzata Fort; Missy Harvey.

Medicine (3): Lou Alarcon; Amanda Fisher; Jiyun Kim; Maria Kovacs; Penelope Morel; Scott Tashman.

There are no vacancies this year in information science, law or business.

Online voting for Faculty Assembly members and for University Senate officers is set for April 5-20.

The Senate president’s race pits Michael Spring of the School of Information Sciences against incumbent Thomas C. Smitherman of the School of Medicine. Watch for a Q&A with candidates Spring and Smitherman in the April 4 issue of the University Times.

Incumbent vice president James T. Becker, School of Medicine, will face Irene Frieze, Dietrich School of Arts and Sciences.

Incumbent secretary Linda Frank, Graduate School of Public Health, is being challenged by Kathleen Kelly, School of Health and Rehabilitation Sciences.
