Communications VC named

Pitt has named a vice chancellor for communications.

kenservice-smallerKenneth P. Service, executive director of the Pittsburgh Council on Higher Education (PCHE), will assume the position Aug. 1. Service was Pitt’s director of news and information, 1994-2001.

Prior to joining PCHE, Service was vice president for institutional relations at La Roche College.

He also has held communications and institutional advancement positions at Duquesne University, Carnegie Mellon University and the University of Cincinnati. He worked in media relations and corporate information for Duquesne Light Company, 1987-94.

Service has an English degree from Canisius College and is a graduate of the University of Cincinnati Graduate School of Business executive program.

Service replaces Robert Hill, vice chancellor for public affairs, who retired in May.
