Electronics recycling event planned for Oakland

20020914_sha_n13_820.jpgA free electronics recycling event will be held in Oakland Oct. 12.

The event will accept televisions, which state law now prohibits from being put out in regular trash. Oakland Planning and Development Corp. (OPDC) is partnering with Evolution E-Cycling to provide for environmentally friendly recycling of electronics.

In addition to TVs, the event will accept computers, laptops, monitors, cell phones, printers, copiers, wires and cables as well as car batteries.

The event will take place 10 a.m.-noon at the Forbes Tower lot, corner of Atwood and Sennott streets.

For more information, contact OPDC’s Keep It Clean, Oakland! manager at kico@opdc.org or 412/621-7863 ext. 24.
