UPG cookbook sales benefit scholarships

UPG cookbook sales benefit scholarships

From hearty tortellini soup to salsa meatballs, from crab supper pie to low-fat chocolate banana cake, more than 125 recipes from members of the Greensburg campus community have been compiled in a new cookbook.

Published by the Greensburg campus Staff Association, the UPG Community Cookbook offers 80-plus pages on preparing the favorite dishes of staff, faculty and students at the regional campus.

Editor Tanya Conde, Greensburg Staff Association vice president, said she and fellow association members took on the project to promote community spirit on the campus. "It's for a good cause, too," she said, "since the proceeds go to multiple student scholarship funds here at Greensburg." Conde said the book has raised about $300 to date.

Breakfasts, soups, appetizers, side dishes, main courses and desserts are included, with food group dividers offering bits of humorous wisdom. (For example, "Mothers, food, love and career: the four major guilt groups…" from "Cathy" cartoonist Cathy Guisewite.) For more information or to purchase a copy of the cookbook ($10), contact Conde at 724/836-9869 or e-mail: tlc1+@pitt.edu
