Laurence M. Mann

Laurence M. "Larry" Mann, 47, a long-time staff employee in the Office of the Registrar, died Sept. 18, 1997, of complications from AIDS.

A 1968 graduate of Latrobe Area High School, Mann graduated from Duff's Business Institute in 1969, the same year he began work at Pitt as a staff member in the Graduate School of Public and International Affairs (GSPIA). He worked at GSPIA until 1974, when he left Pittsburgh for a job in California.

Mann returned to the University as a temporary employee in 1976 and joined the Registrar's staff in 1977. He was records manager and supervisor of the graduation area when he died.

In memory of Mann, several friends and former co-workers will collaborate on the creation of a panel for the Names Project AIDS Memorial Quilt.

Quilters will meet in the home of Lucille Adkins, coordinator of new student programs, on Nov. 1 and 2. Anyone wishing to contribute to the quilt effort can call Steve Zupcic, coordinator of the Pitt Volunteer Pool, at 648-1489.
