UPJ initiates master's program

The Johnstown campus held a reception Jan. 27 to inaugurate its master of social work degree. This is the first formal initiative by Pitt to take graduate programs to the regional campuses.

The Johnstown MSW is tailored to working professionals who are interested in advanced direct practice in the fields of mental health and health care.

"The MSW program will be the model by which all future distance education programs will be developed at the University," said Robert Knipple, director of UPJ's Murtha Educational Center.

The MSW degree program at UPJ is the only accredited MSW program between Pittsburgh and Harrisburg.
