* Art for AIDS Invitation Mailing

Saturday, May 2, 10 am-3 pm

Volunteers will assist the Persad Center in preparing for its benefit art auction by addressing and stuffing invitations at an on-campus location. * Pittsburgh Marathon Finish Line Sunday, May 3, 8 am-1 pm Pitt volunteers again will have the exclusive in staffing the Point State Park finish line.

* Great Book Sale

Monday, May 4, 6-9 pm

Goodwill Industries sponsors the largest book sale of its kind in the Pittsburgh area. Volunteers will be setting up the Station Square sales area.

* Oakland Floral Bed Planting

Saturday, May 9, 8:30 am-noon

Volunteers will help to plant flowers on public property in Oakland near the University in this project sponsored by the Western Pennsylvania Conservancy.

* Race for the Cure

Sunday, May 10, 7-10 am

With more runners than the Pittsburgh Marathon, this race raises money to support breast cancer screenings and education. Pitt volunteers will staff the Schenley Park finish line. The deadline for volunteer registration is May 1.

* Ryan Hacke Playground Project

Saturday, May 16, 8:30 am-noon or noon-5 pm

Suggested by Dawn Mathias of the Cashier’s office, this project will help to build a playground in West Mifflin in memory of a local child killed in random violence. Volunteers will help with construction, painting and food service.

* Pittsburgh Children’s Festival

Sunday, May 17, 11 am-2:30 pm, 2-5 pm or 5-7 pm

Pitt volunteers will serve as ushers, ticket-takers and in food service, as well as assisting with arts and crafts such as face painting and nature art at the festival’s North Side location.
