Maya Angelou visits campus

Acclaimed poet, writer and actress Maya Angelou spoke at the Carnegie Music Hall on April 7, an event sponsored by the Pitt Program Council. Angelou, best known for the poem she delivered at the first Clinton inauguration ceremony, has received numerous honors and awards, including a Pulitzer Prize nomination, a Grammy award, and an Emmy nomination. In addition to her many books of poetry and prose, Angelou has written several children's books, including "Life Doesn't Frighten Me" and "My Painted House, My Friendly Chicken and Me." She is working on a series of books about children of different international cultures.
