Public Affairs staff wins awards

Pitt's Office of Public Affairs has received two first-place and three honorable-mention awards in the 35th annual public relations competition sponsored by the Pittsburgh chapter of the Association for Women in Communications, Inc.

First-place winners in the Matrix competition were "University of Pittsburgh Higher Education Review" radio program, Sharon Blake, producer and co-host, and Ken Service, co-host; and University of Pittsburgh Research Review, magapaper/tabloid, Kevin Roark, editor.

Honorable mention winners included Pitt Magazine, Sally Ann Flecker, editor, and Gary Cravener, design director, in the category of university magazines; and "Their Cup Runneth Over," by Mark Collins, in the category of magazine feature story–monthly or quarterly publication.

Also honored was the Public Affairs-produced publication, GSPIA Viewbook, in the category of sales/marketing promotion, using fewer than four colors.
