Conte resigns as Pitt registrar
Samuel D. Conte has resigned as University registrar to become associate vice president for enrollment at Florida International University, beginning Sept. 1.
Conte, whose Pitt career spanned three decades, also worked in the Department of Public Safety and in Management Services and Student Business Services before becoming registrar in August 1986. He earned his bachelor's and doctoral degrees from Pitt.
Conte is in Florida this week. Provost James Maher issued a statement saying he accepted Conte's resignation with regret. "Sam has served the University with dedication, intelligence and compassion," Maher wrote.
