Cervical, breast cancer screening available for low-income women
The University of Pittsburgh Cancer Institute (UPCI) has been awarded a contract by the Pennsylvania Department of Health to provide breast and cervical cancer screenings for women 50 years of age and older with low incomes who are uninsured or underinsured.
The screenings, which are part of the state's Healthy-Woman 50+ Program, are offered through the UPCI's Ladies Hospital Aid Society Cancer Prevention and Early Detection Center.
Women who qualify for the program receive breast and pelvic examinations and Pap smears. The UPCI's Comprehensive Breast Care Center provides mammograms.
Funding is provided in part by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention under a contract administered by the Pennsylvania Department of Health.
