Stiller memorial service today

A memorial service for Richard L. Stiller will be held today, Feb. 29, at 5 p.m. in Heinz Chapel.

Stiller, 62, died Feb. 12 at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center (UPMC) after a short illness.

He was an associate professor of pharmacology, anesthesiology and psychiatry. Also, since 1989, he had directed the anesthesiology and critical care medicine research labs at UPMC and Children's Hospital.

Stiller received his B.S. in chemistry from Hunter College and a Ph.D. in biological chemistry from St. John's University. He had more than 100 publications on research with anesthetic agents, therapeutic psychiatric drugs, and nicotine. Stiller came to Pitt in 1979.

He is survived by his wife, Pamela, and two daughters, Adria and Nicole Stiller. Contributions may be made to the Children's Hospital of Pittsburgh Free Care Fund.
