Charles R. Eigenbrode

Charles R. Eigenbrode, 66, co-founder of Pitt's Dental Fears Clinic, died March 3, 1996, of familial amyloidosis. Eigenbrode was diagnosed with the disease in 1991 and had spent the past year as a resident of a nursing home in Cranberry Township, where he died.

A psychologist, Eigenbrode joined the dental school's Department of Behavior Sciences in 1972. He remained at the school until 1991.

Eigenbrode obtained a bachelor's degree in psychology from Lebanon Valley College, a master's degree in psychology from George Washington University and his Ph.D. in psychology from Pitt in 1960.

During his time at Pitt, Eigenbrode also served as president of the Pennsylvania Psychological Association and the Pittsburgh Psychological Association. Both organizations recognized him with outstanding service awards in 1991.

Eigenbrode is survived by his wife, Eleanor; a son, Erik, of Ross Township; and two brothers, Leonard, of Frederick, Md., and Francis, of Tucson, Ariz.
