Global studies deadline nears
March 1 is the deadline for applications for the Global Studies Center (GSC) faculty fellowship and the center’s global academic partnership grant competition.
• GSC selects a faculty member to advance and showcase scholarship related to one of the center’s current themes: global health, human rights and human security, or inequality. The fellowship includes a course release; up to $15,000 to organize a scholarly event; plus $5,000 for related research, travel and curricular development. The award year runs Aug. 28, 2017-June 30, 2018. The faculty fellow is expected to deliver a public lecture and participate in activities that support the center’s research, teaching and outreach priorities. More information is available at www.ucis.pitt.edu/global/facultyfellow.
• The global academic partnership grant competition aims to amplify the center’s themes of global health, human rights/human security and inequality through interdisciplinary research collaborations, curriculum development, student exchanges and other scholarly ties. One $40,000 grant will be awarded to support ongoing campus programming that enriches the intellectual environment at Pitt ($10,000 in 2017-18 and $30,000 in 2018-19). This award is sponsored by the Office of the Provost and the University Center for International Studies.
