Titusville’s physical therapy program accredited

The Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) program at Pitt’s Titusville campus was awarded accreditation “with high accolades” by the Commission on Accreditation in Physical Therapy Education (CAPTE).

CAPTE, part of the American Physical Therapy Association, is the only accrediting agency for physical therapist assistant programs, and it is accredited by the U.S. Department of Education.

Only students who graduate from an accredited PTA program are eligible to sit for licensing examinations, which are required by most states before working in patient care.

CAPTE found the PTA program to be 100 percent compliant with the evaluative criteria. “This level of compliance is rare,” says Janet Moffitt, director and assistant professor of the UPT PTA program. “We are very pleased with CAPTE’s findings, especially after so many months of dedicated work and preparation for the accreditation process.”
