Law, African schools linked

Pitt's School of Law has been linked to its counterparts in Africa through the newly created African Legal Initiative (AFLI) Sister Law School Program.

Established to internationalize the rule of law around the world, the Pitt connection will be reinforced this month by Kenyan educators visiting Pitt's law school to learn about the American system of legal education and to establish links between sister schools.

An outgrowth of the Central and Eastern European Law Initiative (CEELI) Sister Law School Program of 1990 which links 120 law schools, AFLI will focus on eight countries located mostly in East Africa. Both CEELI and AFLI were formed by the American Bar Association. While CEELI will supply international expertise, AFLI will be run by the Section on Legal Education through its consultant on legal education.
