Search committee

At the Board of Trustees meeting on June 22, Board Chair J.W. Connolly announced the appointment of 21 persons to the Chancellor Search Committee. Those appointed include nine trustees, seven faculty members elected by the University Senate, three deans, one Staff Association Council representative, and one University of Pittsburgh Medical Center representative. Three students — one each from the Student Government Board, the College of General Studies Student Government Council, and the Graduate and Professional Student Association — will be appointed in September, following student elections of their nominees, bringing the full complement to 24.

In addition to board member James C. Roddey, managing general partner of Allegheny Media, who was earlier named to head the committee, the other trustees appointed to the Chancellor Search Committee are: J. David Barnes, chairman emeritus, Mellon Bank, N.A.; Eugene J. Barone, retired chairman and ceo, Blue Cross of Western Pennsylvania; State Senator D. Michael Fisher; Earl F. Hord, president and ceo, Minority Enterprise Corporation; A. Alice Kindling, public health administrator, Allegheny County Health Department; Martha Hartle Munsch, partner, Reed Smith Shaw and McClay; John H. Pelusi Jr., president and ceo, Pelusi, Nackoul, Sansoti, Shoemaker and Associates, Inc.; Evans Rose Jr., director and senior partner, Cohen & Grigsby, P.C.

The faculty members of the committee are: Herbert A. Chesler, associate professor of economics; James V. Cunningham, professor, School of Social Work; Carrie R. Leana, associate professor, Katz Graduate School of Business; Gordon K. Macleod, professor, Health Services Administration; Christina B. Paulson, professor of linguistics; Denis A. Robitaille, associate professor, Johnstown campus; Nina F. Schor, associate professor of pediatrics.

The deans on the committee are David E. Epperson, School of Social Work; Randy P. Juhl, School of Pharmacy; and Peter F.M. Koehler, Faculty of Arts and Sciences.

Also named to the committee are Darlene E. Harris, president, Staff Association Council, and George H. Taber, chairman, University of Pittsburgh Medical Center System and Presbyterian University Hospital.

Robert G. Houston, executive assistant vice chancellor for Student and Public Affairs, will serve as executive secretary to the committee.
