Voluntary reduced staff work year approved

Chancellor J. Dennis O'Connor has approved a voluntary reduced staff work year of nine or 10 months.

Associate Vice Chancellor for Human Resources Darlene Lewis said the policy officially went into effect on July 1. "We don't have any procedures yet for people who want to sign up for the program," Lewis added. "We're working on getting that done right now." Lewis pointed out that staff members who want to take advantage of the reduced work year will have to accrue work time before they can take time off. Staff will not be able to take off the remainder of July and August this year, and return in September to a reduced work year and corresponding salary reduction.
