In Brief: Changes in University Communications, Wellness Coaching, Healthy Holidays Program

Changes in Office of University Communications

A number of moves have recently occurred in the Office of University Communications.

Vice Chancellor for Communications Susan Rogers has left the University, and a national search is underway for a permanent replacement. Bill Young, who served as the communication office’s executive director of marketing, has joined the University’s Clinical and Translational Science Institute.

An interim team is directing operations until the leadership search is complete. Kamrhan Farwell, assistant vice chancellor for communications, oversees media relations, web services, social media and university news publications. Executive Director Cynthia Gill leads the marketing, design and magazine divisions.

Also new, Patrick McMahon joined the office as executive director of communications on Aug. 28. He manages the work of communication managers assigned to schools and departments throughout the University to promote University news to the media as well as through the University’s news service, Pittwire.

Focus on Healthy Holidays

The holiday season is fast approaching, which means your commitment to healthy eating might need some extra help since the holidays can be especially hard on your ability to stay conscious about your eating habits. Pitt’s MyHealth@Work Health and Wellness Center can help you make more mindful choices about eating and staying active throughout the holidays.

The Healthy Holidays program includes four 40-minute sessions that focus on making time for exercise, healthy eating and maintaining your weight over the holiday season. Registration begins on Sept. 4 and runs through Sept. 15. Classes start at the beginning of October.
