In Brief: Latest in Fall Workplace Development Programs, Healthy Living Challenges

Registration for Fall Faculty, Staff Development Program Now Open

The Faculty and Staff Development Program (FSDP) has now opened registration for fall sessions. FSDP courses focus on professional knowledge and skills for employees, including certificate programs, diversity and inclusion courses and technology classes.

To support the 2017-18 Year of Healthy U, FSDP will offer new courses and workshops that focus on mindfulness, sleep, health and nutrition.

1st and Goal: Set Fitness Goals, Track Activity in Fall Wellness Challenge

Support Pitt’s Year of Healthy U by joining UPMC’s 1st and 10 Program, a football-themed physical activity campaign. Set fitness goals and track your physical activity throughout the eight-week program. Every two weeks, you’ll receive an update with your accumulated activity and your standing among other participants.

Registration for 1st and 10 is open from Sept. 25 to Oct. 6. The program’s kickoff is Monday, Oct. 9, and is open to faculty and staff members with a UPMC Health Plan.

To register, sign into your My Pitt account and follow the path: My Resources > UPMC Health Plan > click MyHealth Access on the right-hand side of the page > select 1st and 10 Registration from the left-hand menu, under Life Solutions.

 

Health Programs, Services Recognized by American Heart Association

Pitt was recently recognized by the American Heart Association in its Workplace Health Achievement Index for 2017 in its Early Adopter category. The index recognizes companies that implement health programs and services for employees and promote a culture of healthy practices.

One of these services that works to improve health and well-being is Pitt’s Health and Wellness Center, which is open on campus for all faculty and staff and offers free health services, including health coaching, seasonal flu shots, blood pressure screenings and more to those with a UPMC Health Plan.
