UPB receives two donations

The Bradford campus will benefit from donations made by American Refining Group, Inc. ARG, and its affiliate American Refining and Biochemical Company, donated a one-acre parcel of land at the corner of Dorothy Lane and West Washington Street for campus use. "This contribution fits perfectly with our master plan, allowing us to expand our boundaries to achieve a unity with our natural setting," said UPB President Richard E. McDowell. "It will also provide additional space for our proposed soccer field. The current field needs to be moved to the new location to accommodate the planned fine arts center," he said. ARG also donated an advertising billboard located along Route 219 in Limestone, Pa. The Bradford campus had been loaned the use of the billboard for some years, but the recent gift gives the college exclusive rights and ownership. According to Mark Van Tilburg, UPB's director of public relations and marketing, "The billboard has been an important part of our marketing and institutional promotion efforts because it serves as a continual way for us to keep Pitt-Bradford's message before the public."
