Chancellor Launches Seed Project for Transformative Strategic Ideas

This week, Chancellor Patrick Gallagher announced the call for applications for the first-ever Pitt Seed Projects. All faculty and staff members are eligible to apply for a Pitt Seed Project, a new initiative funded by the Office of the Chancellor to provide an opportunity to directly and actively contribute to Pitt’s strategic transformation.

Seed Project proposals must support one or more of the six goals and strategies outlined in the “The Plan for Pitt,” the University’s strategic plan. Chosen applicants can receive up to $50,000 to advance their project.

A call for Expressions of Interest (EOI) is open now through Feb. 5. While optional, an EOI allows interested project participants to submit questions about Pitt Seed Projects to the Office of the Chancellor and will help the office proactively plan for reviews. Answers to questions will be provided by Feb. 12 to all applicants who complete an online EOI.

The Seed Project application process will begin Feb. 5. The deadline to submit an application and supporting materials is March 5. Visit the Pitt Seed Project webpage for additional details about this opportunity, including information on eligibility and the selection process.
