Pitt testing Internet library system

Pitt testing Internet library system

Through April, Pitt Internet users can search four other institutions' library catalogs online and request that books be sent to a University Library System (ULS) library. The system was developed by the Pennsy lvania Academic Library Consortium, Inc., which includes Indiana University of Pennsylvania, Lafayette College, Lehigh and Penn State, as well as Pitt.

Faculty, staff and students can search the online catalogs at all these libraries simultaneously and place direct requests as a faster alternative to the interlibrary loan process. ULS is encouraging use of the system because availability will depend on t he purchasing decision of the consortium following the test period.

To access the service, visit the website at http://www.library.pitt.edu. Select "Online Resources — Other Library Catalogs." Direct questions to Ann McLeod, 648-7805.
