Details available on Ft. Pitt bridge/tunnel restrictions

Today is D-Day for a new construction phase of the Ft. Pitt Bridge/Ft. Pitt Tunnel five-year improvement project. The current phase is expected to last 50-90 days.

Beginning today at 6 a.m, PennDOT is closing lanes that carry traffic from the Ft. Duquesne Bridge to the Ft. Pitt Bridge on a connector over Point State Park. In addition, outbound ramps to the Ft. Pitt Bridge — from the Ft. Duquesne Bridge, Ft. Duquesne Boulevard and the 10th Street Bypass — will be closed.

The bridge and tunnel will remain open through 2001.

Some bus stops will be canceled during the construction phase. For information on bus route changes, call the Port Authority at 442-2000.
