Art, architecture trips open to public

Pitt's Department of the History of Art and Architecture has two field trips planned for October that are open to the public.

Frank Toker will lead a trip to five of the best preserved early American architecture sites in western Pennsylvania Oct. 13. The trip will visit the Neal log house, Schenley Park; Woodville or the Neville house, Chartiers Valley; the Isaac Meason house, Mt. Braddock near Uniontown; St. Peter's Church in Browns-ville, and Overholt Farm, birthplace of Henry Clay Frick, near Scottdale.

The bus will leave at 8:30 a.m. and return at 7 p.m. The cost is $15 (nonrefundable). Seats are available on a first-come, first-served basis.

Barbara McCloskey will lead a trip to the Holocaust Museum in Washington, D.C., on Oct. 26.

The bus will leave at 7 a.m. and return at 11 p.m. Cost for students is $15; the cost for non-students is $30. Seats are available on a first-come, first-served basis.

McCloskey also will discuss the history and design of the Holocaust Museum in a colloquium on Oct. 22 at noon in 203 Frick Fine Arts.
