Nearly $20,000 raised for Kevin Cecil fund

Sigma Chi fraternity raised nearly $20,000 for the Kevin Cecil Foundation during its annual Derby Day event.

Cecil was the Pitt student who was wounded two years ago in a shooting near campus. He is paralyzed from the neck down.

Derby Day involves a series of events, such as a tug-of-war contest, during which sponsored contestants earn points toward a trophy. A benefit concert also was held, with all proceeds going to the Kevin Cecil Foundation.
