Paul Dowd memorial service set

A memorial service for chemistry professor Paul Dowd will be held at 10 a.m. on Feb. 10 in Heinz Chapel.

Dowd, a member of the chemistry faculty since 1970, died Nov. 21, 1996, at the age of 60.

A scientific symposium in memory of Dowd also will be held on Feb. 10, beginning at 1:15 p.m. in Ashe Auditorium of the Chevron Science Center. Presenters at the symposium will include William von Eggers Doering, Harvard; Edward Arnett, Duke; Kendall Houk, UCLA; Ronald Breslow, Columbia; Julius Rebek, Scripps Research Institute; Paul Grieco, Indiana University, and Samuel Danishefsky, Columbia.

The family has requested that memorial contributions be directed to the United Way.
