March 1 is deadline for UPG campus president applications

Approximately 65 applications and nominations have been received for the presidency of Pitt's Greensburg campus (UPG).

The deadline for applications is March 1, according to Joan Cutone, who is providing staff support for the search.

Following a review of the applications and nominations by the search committee, five to seven candidates will be brought to UPG and the Pittsburgh campus for interviews. The committee will present a list of three unranked finalists to Provost James Maher by mid-May. An offer is expected to be made to one of the candidates by July 1.

A forum on the search was held Jan. 28 at UPG, with about 35 people in attendance. One of the main themes of the meeting was that the president should be someone capable of increasing UPG's visibility in the community.

George Chambers retired Dec. 31 after serving as president of UPG for 16 years. Norman Scanlon, vice president for academic affairs at UPG, has been serving as interim president.
