PEOPLE OF THE TIMES

Donna Gagnier has been appointed collection development librarian at the Owen Library on the Johnstown campus. Her responsibilities will include conducting an evaluation of the collections using a software package, Conspectus, which rates items by subject, date of publication, condition, frequency of use and relevance to the curriculum.

Chancellor Mark A. Nordenberg, Joseph C. Glorioso, professor and chair of the Department of Molecular Genetics and Biochemistry, and John J. Fung, associate professor of surgery, have been honored as Men of the Year in different categories by Vectors/Pittsburgh.

Vectors/Pittsburgh is an organization of Pittsburgh-area professionals who select men and women of the year in several categories based on traits such as "leadership, courage, hard work and self-discipline." Nordenberg was chosen man of the year in education, while Glorioso was selected in the technology category. Fung was honored in the science division.

Julius Youngner, Department of Molecular Genetics and Biochemistry, has been elected as chair of the ethics committee of the American Society for Microbiology. The ASM is the largest association of biological scientists in the world.

Jodie Nicotra, assistant director of admissions at the Johnstown campus, has been selected as a team member for the Rotary Group Study Exchange (GSE) to France. The GSE team, representing Rotary District 7330, will visit the Alsace-Lorraine region of France.
