PEOPLE OF THE TIMES

Lynn M. Martire, associate professor of psychiatry, has received the 2006 Outstanding Contributions to Health Psychology Award, junior level, from Division 20 (health psychology) of the American Psychological Association.

This award recognizes her research on the interface between late-life chronic illness and family relationships. Martire also is associate director of gerontology.

The Pitt-Bradford Alumni Association will honor Gautam Mukerjee with the 2006 PBAA Teaching Excellence Award.

The PBAA Teaching Excellence Award recognizes a faculty member who has exemplified established educational principles, shown dedication in teaching his or her students and excelled in his or her area of specialty.

Mukerjee is associate professor of economics and director of the economics program.

The annual award will be presented at an alumni reception and dinner Oct. 7.

Law professor Sandra Jordan recently was appointed to the gender equity task force of the Allegheny County Bar Association (ACBA). The task force is charged with reacting to the results of a 2005 survey of ACBA membership that focused on gender issues.

Sandra Kane-Gill, assistant professor of pharmacy and therapeutics, recently was appointed as chair of the American College of Clinical Pharmacy publication committee.
