Nominations due for staff awards

Members of the University community are invited to nominate outstanding staff members for the two annual chancellor’s excellence in service awards.

The Chancellor’s Award for Staff for Excellence in Service to the University and the Chancellor’s Award for Staff for Excellence in Service to the Community are the highest awards that Pitt grants to staff members.

The University service award honors staff whose performance consistently exceeds the standards and expectations set for their positions and whose commitment and performance have made a significant impact on the University.

The community service excellence award honors staff members whose work in the community surpasses expectations of the organizations they serve and whose commitment and effort have made a significant impact on the community. Nominees also must demonstrate a consistent pattern of dedication to the University.

All classified and union full- and part-time staff members who have been employed at Pitt for at least five years are eligible. Winners of either award within the past three years are not eligible.

Up to five winners for each award will be chosen for each academic year.

The awards carry a $2,500 cash prize.

Award recipients are recognized at the annual honors convocation held in February and at a separate reception and their names are added to a permanent plaque displayed in the William Pitt Union.

Nominations may be made by individuals, groups, students or alumni. Self-nominations also are permitted.

Nominations and supporting materials for both awards should be sent to Jane W. Thompson, 1817 CL, by Nov. 15.
