Dental school honored for clinic's work

Pitt’s School of Dental Medicine recently received Excellence in Organization Activity recognition from Achieva.

Achieva is a non-profit group within a family of organizations that collectively comprises western Pennsylvania’s largest provider of comprehensive services and support for persons with disabilities and their families.

The School of Dental Medicine was chosen for the honor specifically for its commitment to the special oral health care needs of people with disabilities as demonstrated through its operation of a special-needs dental clinic.

The dental school integrates students in a rotation in the special-needs clinic that prepares future dental hygienists, general dentists and dental specialists to treat individuals with disabilities as part of a general community practice.
