Tax hotline set up

Payroll has set up a tax hotline for questions concerning the W-2 and 1042S tax forms. The hotline number, 412/624-8070 (option 9), will be in effect through April 16, 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Questions regarding form 1099 should be directed to Payment Processing at 412/624-5337; email: sconwell@bc.pitt.edu.

Questions regarding form 1098T (tuition payment statement) should be directed to 877/467-3821. Information regarding form 1098T also can be found at www.1098T.com/.

To assist in understanding the W-2 form, a sample of a completed W-2 form is available at www.bc.pitt.edu/payroll.

Local wage information provided in box 18 of the W-2 relates to residents of municipalities where Pitt is required to withhold local taxes. All other employees should follow the guidelines from their local municipality concerning how to determine appropriate wages in filing local returns.

Officials said that W-2 forms were mailed by Jan. 31, although employees should allow two weeks for delivery.
