Forbes Ave. lanes restricted

More lane restrictions on Forbes Avenue began July 9 as part of a $29 million project to replace the Boulevard of the Allies Bridge and ramps.

Traffic on Forbes Avenue from the Parkway East off-ramp to McDevitt Place has been reduced from three lanes to one through mid-August as contractors construct new drainage systems on Forbes Avenue and Ophelia Street.

Traffic on Forbes Avenue will be required to stop at the merge point with traffic coming into Oakland from the Parkway East.

A single left-lane closure on Forbes Avenue from Moultrie Street to the Parkway East off-ramp and a left inbound (northbound) lane closure on the Boulevard of the Allies near the existing bridge will continue as well. The existing bridge is not scheduled to close until next year.

Port Authority buses 61A/B/C/D/F will be re-routed at the intersection of Forbes and Jumonville into the eastbound bus lane on Fifth Avenue. At the intersection of Fifth and Craft avenues, these buses will make a right onto Craft Avenue, then a left onto Forbes Avenue.

Information and virtual images of the project are available online at www.otma-pgh.org.
