Hoffman wins UPG staff award

Leigh Hoffman, assistant dean of student services, director of orientation and co-curricular programs and judicial coordinator at the Greensburg campus, is the recipient of the 2007-08 President’s Distinguished Service Award for Staff.

The award honors UPG staff who have demonstrated “a consistent pattern of extraordinary dedication to the University above and beyond the candidate’s job responsibilities.” The award carries a $500 prize.

“The choice of the recipient of the President’s Distinguished Service Award was difficult,” said Pitt-Greensburg President Sharon P. Smith. “Leigh shone in her caring leadership, her creative ideas and her careful follow-through. The programs she has established have transformed Pitt-Greensburg students’ lives. She is always envisioning improvements to existing programs and innovations that will take us in new and exciting directions. Her impact is extraordinary. Pitt-Greensburg is very lucky to have her.”

Hoffman has worked at UPG since 2003. She was promoted to her current position in 2006. She holds a BS in psychology/education from Juniata College and an MS in counseling from the University of Scranton.

“It is wonderful to work in such a collaborative environment, where you get to know your fellow staff well and where colleagues support one another,” Hoffman said. “It is such a rewarding experience to be able to make a difference in the lives of the students.”
