LRDC search committee submits names

A search committee to identify a new director of Pitt’s Learning Research and Development Center (LRDC) has completed its work.

Committee chair George E. Klinzing, vice provost for research, said a list of four unranked candidates was submitted to Provost James V. Maher late last month.

The LRDC director reports directly to the provost and serves on the Council of Deans.

“The search went very well. We are delighted with the candidates we recommended,” Klinzing said. “All the committee members are pleased with how the search went.”

The new director will succeed Lauren Resnick, who has been director since 1977. She announced last year that she was stepping down this summer. Resnick, who also holds an appointment as University Professor of Psychology and Cognitive Science, will focus on her research and continue in her role as director of Pitt’s Institute for Learning, which is housed in LRDC.

LRDC is an academic center that supports scientific research on instruction and learning and the improvement of instruction and learning in schools, universities and workplaces.
