Donations sought for Chinese libraries

The University Library System (ULS) is leading a local effort to collect donated English language materials to re-build school libraries affected by the May 12 earthquake in Sichuan Province, China.

ULS, a long-time partner of top Chinese university libraries, is calling on individuals, organizations and the schools in Pittsburgh to donate used and new English materials in various formats to help grade 7-12 students in the Sichuan earthquake affected area.

Donation details include:

• Donated materials should be in good condition and appropriate for grade 7-12 students.

• Formats and subject areas include books, CDs, CD-ROMs and DVDs (e.g., books, journals, music recordings, films) in areas such as literature, history, art and science.

• Boxes marked “Rebuilding School Libraries, Sichuan Earthquake” should be brought to the Hillman Library lending desk areas (ground and first floors) or the East Asian Library information desk on the 2nd floor by June 30.
