UPJ's Horner wins affirmative action award

Theresa Horner, director of the Office of Disability Services at Pitt-Johnstown, has won the 2008 Chancellor’s Affirmative Action Award.

The award, which carries a $2,500 prize, is given annually to an outstanding University program area that, or an individual who, has made a significant contribution to Affirmative Action.

Since joining Disability Services six years ago, Horner has reinvigorated the program by establishing supportive services that allow UPJ students with disabilities to participate fully in campus life. The award committee was impressed particularly by the accomplishments of the office, since Horner is the sole service provider for students with disabilities on the Johnstown campus.
