Center for Health and Care Work established

Pitt’s new Center for Health and Care Work (CHCW) seeks to inform the national discourse centered on how to better legitimize, compensate, develop and regulate direct care work in health care and other industries.

The center will facilitate interdisciplinary research to address economic and workforce opportunities in the direct-care sectors; heighten the profile of the research on health care and other care work conducted at Pitt; demonstrate an institutional commitment to such research, enhancing Pitt’s attractiveness for investment by outside funders, and facilitate development of training programs and executive education.

Carrie Leana, the George H. Love Professor of Organizations and Management in the Katz Graduate School of Business, is director of the center. Jules Rosen, professor of psychiatry, is co-director.

The new center is a joint project of the Katz school and the School of Medicine.
