Day of Caring sign-ups filling fast

The 18th annual Pitt Day of Caring is set for Sept. 26. More than 300 Pitt volunteers already have signed up, filling 13 of the 14 scheduled projects.

Still available for volunteers is the “creating affordable housing” project, according to Pitt Volunteer Pool coordinator Steve Zupcic. In that project, Pitt volunteers will assist Oakland Planning and Development Corp. with interior renovation of residential units on Robinson Street. Facilities Management will supply assistance and supervision.

To sign up, contact Zupcic at 412/624-7709 or stz@pitt.edu; registration is required.

In addition to work release time (with supervisor approval), volunteers get breakfast before departure; a T-shirt; lunch at the host agency; transportation; tools, and the opportunity to win prizes during Pitt’s United Way fundraising effort.
