Kennywood Day set for June 11

June 11 is the date for the 15th annual Pitt Kennywood Day, open to all staff, faculty and students and their families.

Pitt I.D.-holders can purchase an unlimited number of all-day ride passes. Each $19 pass includes a catered meal (a $40 value). Seniors 55 and over pay $15. (Proof of age will be required at the Kennywood gate for a senior pass.) Children age 2 and younger are admitted free.

Tickets for the June 11 pass and picnic go on sale April 29 and will be sold until June 10 at the William Pitt Union ticket office. Ticket office hours are 9 a.m.-4:45 p.m. Up to 2,000 tickets are available for the June 11 Kennywood day, on a first-come, first-served basis.

For $21, Pitt I.D. holders can purchase alternative day passes, good on weekdays at Kennywood; a $9 surcharge is added by the park on weekends in July and August. Tickets for alternative day passes will be on sale April 29-July 1.

Pitt Kennywood Day is sponsored by the Staff Association Council (SAC). SAC will hold a raffle to benefit the SAC Book Fund for Children of Staff at the Kennywood Day event. Items to be raffled are four afghans, one pillow and six gift baskets. Raffle tickets are $1 each or three for $2, and are available at the SAC office, 925 William Pitt Union.

SAC also is offering discounts for the Pitt community at Idlewild Park and Sandcastle. Tickets for these parks will be on sale April 29 through July 1.

• Idlewild Park: Open May 26-Sept. 5, at 10 a.m. Tickets cost $11.50 (gate price $22.95); a $6.95 surcharge is applied on weekends. The park is closed May 31-June 2; June 6 and 13, and Aug. 29-Sept. 2.

• Sandcastle: Open June 4-Aug. 28; and Sept. 3-5, 11 a.m.-6 p.m. Tickets cost $13 (gate price: $21.95); tickets are good for any day the park is open.
