Enrollment is open now to the next Pitt Police Citizens Police Academy, which will be held in the fall.
The eight-week program is designed to educate the public about the criminal justice system and provide insight into everyday police work. Topics that will be covered include: Criminal law, firearms, traffic laws, DUI procedures, report writing, domestic violence, traffic stops, self-defense and more.
The class is limited to 20 participants and will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesdays from Sept. 16 to Nov. 18 at the police headquarters, 3412 Forbes Ave. All participants must pass a background check.
