Tell your Oakland story for fundraising event

The Oakland Planning and Development Corp. is asking the Pitt community and others to share true Oakland stories at its annual fundraiser, An Evening of Oakland Storytelling, from 5 to 9 p.m. June 7.

You only have until May 3 to submit a short paragraph describing your true story for a chance to be selected as one of the evening’s storytellers. This year’s venue is The Oaklander Hotel, and the event is supported by Kelly Flanagan Dee, producer of The Moth in Pittsburgh.

Your story must:

  • Relate to the Oakland neighborhood

  • Be no longer than five to seven minutes

  • Be true

  • Be about you

  • Be inspired by the event theme — views

  • Be a story with stakes, conflict, and resolution.

Submit your idea here. For questions, contact hgreen@opdc.org.
